What is Overspray and How Does It Happen?
Overspray is a gritty texture contaminant that sits on the surface of your paint that cannot be easily washed off of the vehicle. It can be from a paint sprayer, fire soot, and chemical fallout.
Some of these contaminants can settle very low on the clear coat and seep into the pores of your paint’s surface and requires deep polishing and paint correction. Overspray can happen when part of a car has been repainted and the rest of it has not been masked off and protected.
Small speckles of paint or a fine mist can settle on the original paint work, dry, and bond to the service. If an unprotected vehicle is near another vehicle being repainted, overspray can happen as well.
